Baby Scout Newborns

What a sweet little Mama and Me session! I was so excited to do this for our sweet neighbor Lauren and since Scout is a little older for a typical newborn sessions (I recommend scheduling for before they’re 14 days old, the prime window being 4-6 days, in my experience), I was brainstorming what we could do other than trying to force her into newborn poses that I knew she just wasn’t going to stay happy for.

As many of you know I have transitioned into doing in-home newborn sessions for clients instead of having them come into my studio downtown. This has been a game changer for so many people as I knew it would be after doing my own newborn session for Sage in my house rather than taking her to the studio. The challenge of finding a good spot in the house and using the props I bring, along side random household items has been fun for me! (I’m thinking back on one time we pushed someones couch outside onto their porch and their neighbor came over so confused ^^).

Although no couches were moved in the making of this gallery, I still did have fun setting up and love the ideas that come to me in the spontaneous moments that occur with in-home newborns. Each session is truly unique and I feel able to embrace my skill for working under pressure (which is one of the things I miss most about photographing weddings- that I am doing less and less of just because I’m trying to focus more on family).

The “Long Live Girlhood” banner is something I bought from a small online store that I wish I could remember what it’s called and if I do I’ll come back and add it.

It is for our Galentines Party next week. I originally got it for our Photo Booth but have a few ideas for it so we will see what we end up using it for!

Here are a few of my favorites from this in-home newborn session. Hope you love them as much as I do!
